How to Choose the Right Wedding Photographer
Your photographer captures the moments you’ll want to relive forever. Choosing wisely matters. Here’s what to look for:
1. Style & Mood
Do you prefer light and airy, moody and dramatic, candid documentary, or a mix? Browse their portfolio to see if their style aligns with your vision.
2. Consistency & Quality
Not just one lovely image — check that the quality is high and consistent across whole weddings, not just highlight shots.
3. Personality & Comfort
You’ll be spending hours with this person. It’s important you feel comfortable and at ease. Meet in person or via video call to see how you vibe.
4. Packages & Deliverables
What do they include — how many hours, second shooter, edited photos, prints, albums, digital files? Make sure everything you expect is in writing.
5. Backup Plan & Contingencies
Ask about equipment backups, how they handle bad weather, and how many backups they keep of your images.
Bonus question list to ask a photographer:
- How many weddings have you shot?
- Do you have a signature shot you’re known for?
- Can I see full wedding galleries, not just highlights?
- What’s your turnaround time for editing?
- What’s your overtime rate if the event runs late?
